Melbourne Flower School (MFS) offers a comprehensive program designed for individuals seeking a professional career in floristry. Conducted within our purpose-designed studio, this course provides extensive, hands-on training in all aspects of floral design and industry practices.

Our school is uniquely located within the Santospirito Wholesale Flower precinct, which provides students with direct exposure to the wholesale floral industry. This environment brings an exceptional opportunity to gain practical insight into flower selection, sourcing and handling. Students are equipped with the foundational knowledge essential for a career in floristry.

This bespoke program delivers instruction in traditional and contemporary floral techniques, including sustainable floristry practices, structural mechanics and creative design. Students acquire practical skills across multiple industry pathways – from freelance floristry and wedding and event designs to retail floristry and business start-up.

The course structure is as follows:

Duration 

20 weeks

  • One full-day studio session per week
  • One evening Zoom session per week (including homework, research and practical revision)
  • Optional work placement: 4–6 days 

 

Learning Outcomes

  • Master practical floral designs and techniques across all industry facets
  • Knowledge of sustainable floristry principles
  • Insight into the professional floral industry operational practices
  • Students will also gain practical experience assisting with corporate events, weddings, functions
  • Ongoing support from MFS instructors

Dress Code

Comfortable attire suitable for practical work. Closed-toe shoes are required for all classes.
